Hey. I'm a Linux Noob, and my questions are:

- Are there any good tutorial on graphics programming out there?

- Are there any pre-made (stable) JPEG graphics libraries out there?

I'm interested in being able to switch into graphical mode, and display a JPEG/GIF image without running some X app. Is this possible?

I remember programming VGA on the PC, and any nice resolution was a pain to achieve, i would like to be able to have a 1024x768 res with a jpeg or gif with minimal trouble.

Thanks for any help!!!
