I wrote that HOWTO nearly a year. At the time the documentation at freedesktop.org was scattered over several howto's, and my intent was to consolidate everything into one document. Since that time the documentation at freedesktop.org has been rewritten and is much better and easier to understand than it was.

With that in mind I will direct you to the freedesktop Documentation. The freedesktop project now uses xorg code.

I tried to download the dri using CVS... that happened.
Code:
[jcolon@localhost ~]$ cvs -z3 -d:pserver:anonymous@dri.freedesktop.org:/cvs/drilogin
Logging in to :pserver:anonymous@dri.freedesktop.org:2401/cvs/dri
CVS password:
Unknown host dri.freedesktop.org.
what is i'm doing wrong?

Unknown host usually means some network problems.
