is there any way to upgrade from 2009 to 2010 with a mounted iso>
I have 2009 on dvd, but since then i my dvd burner has died and i ahvent been able to buy a new one.. I have 2010 downloaded to my dataa storage drive and wondered if it was possible if i could mount and upgrade while 2009 is running, or bootup with the 2009 disc and manually mount and start the iso upgrade.. I want to install 2010 but hard to do without a physical cd..

You can't do that since the installation will reboot and probably need the CD after. Even if don't there's no garantee that it works. and you probably end up with an unbootable system and with no CD drive to install.
You could probably use a pen drive (I never used Mandriva but it's probably no different from every other distros I've used).
I've googled "mandriva pen install" and found numerous topics and tutorials.
<EDIT>
If you don't have a pen drive you can copy the contents of the cd to an unused partition, configure properly the bootloader to boot from that partition and do a clean install(without overriding the boot partition).
I recommend you to buy a pen drive instead tough.

You can install or upgrade Mandriva without any external device. Follow the instructions on this page:

well i do have a usb flash drive i can use.. but i wouldnt know how to make the image bootable from that hence part of the problem. I have 2 physical drives.. my thought was to install on the primary from the image which is on the secondary drive. I just needed some way to manage booting to the image. I dont have a second system that i can install through a network from.
