Startup screen

When I installed (upgraded from Mdk 9.0) Mandrake 10.0 some time ago I got this beautiful blue startup screen with a progress bar. Now on 10.1 this screen is gone and I'm back to the scrolling text. Is there some way to get the progress bar back or has it simply been removed?

make sure that you have bootsplash installed. if yes, go to your mandrake control center and activate graphical booting in case it was somehow disabled.

Mandrakelinux 10.1 (Community) is a 'final release candidate'. The Official release is scheduled for 10/15/2004. I also noted the default screen has been changed to a black scrolling screen - with the Mandrakelinux star at the top. This may be the default bootsplash, or it may be updated in the Official release. There are other bootsplash's available. You may want to check them out in MCC.
