Cool Hello from Australia

Hi Folks
I am a hobbyist coder since way back (commodore64 my first programming). Have been a MS boy for too long (visual basic) and now would like to port over to C++ and Linux. I know I have a lot of learning to do and appreciate any good mentorship from LQ.
Last few weeks I have been doing a lot of reading and research about Unix OS and C++
My present target style is desktop stand alone GUI apps. Very simple, direct and non invasive type apps.
Thank You
Cheers

Welcome aboard. It's good that you want to learn a new programming language. Since you have VB experience, you might find Gambas of interest to you...

Thanks ferrari
That was a good read. I may return to gambas in the future, but firstly I would like to explore C++ with more direct and low level programming.
