thunderbird not importing all my mail

Hi
I have just set up thunderbird email client (debian sarge) with
gmail.
I followed all the instructions and it works... well kind of.
I can send emails, however when it started importing emails
from the server it stopped around june 2006 and says that
there are no new mails on the server (it imported both read and
unread messages from the period before june 2006)
It's strange, isn't it?
any suggestions?

thank you
regards
sycamorex

I would give the recommendations for "disappearing email" a shot to see if they might fix your issue..

http://kb.mozillazine.org/Disappearing_mail

Could be a screwy index file or something causing the problem..

other articles that might be of interest..
http://kb.mozillazine.org/Empty_folders -
http://kb.mozillazine.org/Session_logging_for_mail/news - enable IMAP logging
http://kb.mozillazine.org/Phantom_folders - new profile and migrate messages..

Hope something there helps you track down your issue..

Thanks

i don't know what happened but it somehow it started working.
When I closed the application and reran it, some more mails
started coming up, then I had to shut it down again, and re-open
it to get more mails and so on and soforth.

strange as it is, the program works fine now
thanks
