Importing mail from Kmail to Thunderbird or Mozilla mail

Hi,

Is there a way to import messages from KMail to Thunderbird or Mozilla ? I've been trying but they only suggest Netscape4.x as an option.

try this

take a look at this:

http://texturizer.net/thunderbird/faq.html#kmail

In case you have trouble with the link, it is just the thunderbird faq, and there is a question about importing from kmail.

The basic premise is that Thunderbird reads the mbox file format (which I understand evolution uses). You can create this type of mailbox in kmail, but it is not the default format. You create a new folder in the mbox format, copy the mail into it, and then go to the shell and copy the actual file from the kmail directory into the appropriate directory for thunderbird to access (the faq tells you which directories to use). The same thing can be done with evolution, and you don't even need to convert the mailbox format.

Thanks Semlak !

This information is very useful indeed. I'm saving it for future reference concerning Thunderbird.

Dalek's link also pointed to an interesting thread, from which I got enough information to eventually solve my problem.

I recently moved from Windows to Linux, using first Thunderbird, then Mozilla. I find these two mail clients disappointingly slow, though. But Linux is much more exciting to use in my opinion.
