Thumbs up

I just had the same issue!

CHECK_NRPE: Error - Could not complete SSL handshake.

Make sure that you really have this "nrpe 5666/tcp # NRPE" in your /etc/service. If I remove it i get the SSL error msg. If I insert it back (and restart xinetd) it works again. No clue why, but it does

So running:
Code:
echo "nrpe 5666/tcp # NRPE" >> /etc/services
service xinetd restart
should fix your issue.

Hello and Welcome to LinuxQuestions,

Although it's appreciated that you help out other Linux users with their questions and problems, it's not a good idea to 'revive' old threads. This one dates from 08-10-04, which is 6 years ago. I'm sure the OP has found a solution or has moved on. If you want to help out, then check the Zero Reply List for actual problems/questions.

Also, deactivating the NRPE service is not a solution to the problem but a bypass to avoid the error.

Kind regards,

Eric
