Angry Install fail on Asus A8V Deluxe

Has anyone been able to install Mandrake 64bit Linux on an Asus A8V Deluxe? I have :
Asus A8V (VIA K8T800Pro)
Athlon 3500+ (939pin)
1G Kinston DDR
120G C: and 200G D:
Aopen DVD+/- rw DL (dual layer)
Marvell 88E8001 Gigabit ethernet

I have tried to install using GUI and yext and it stalls about 1/2 way in. No data is written to hard disk. Is the motherboard to "new" for Linux?

Thanks for any help.

Promise Controller Card

If you've hooked y/hds into the promise card and use FastTrak driver you are out of luck. Kernel 2.6 is no good ypu need to go to Kernel 2.4 or change controller driver to SATA IDE

Checking the manual, I see RAID is connected to Promise PDC20378 RaidController and Southbridge is 2 UltrDMA 133 connectors. I'm not using the SATA connectors. (Am running a ATI 9800 AIW Pro tho some say that can be a problem)

There has to be a way to run Mandrake. There has to be.

When computer boots it tells me the FastTark BIOS ver, then reports no BIOS install and no hard drives connected.

Hope this helps and thanks
