software raid 1 on redhat AS 4


just got IBM sever with 2 SATA disk 250 gb each.

Need to configure software RAID 1 n install REDHAT linux 4 AS on system.

Pls. guide me.
Do not gv me any link, that makes me confuse.

how to create raid 1 mirroring
how then install linux afterward .

The whole RAID process can be done by Fedora installer, I would suppose from the redhat link.

Give it a try and post some errors and we can try to work on them.

1.if i create root/ partition(as it contains all structure) as raid 1 partition using all available space on both drives using redhat tool.. is thr any problem.

2. how do i assigen swap space using raid 1

There is no need to mirror your swap space, only your data but if your drives have the same size then you might as well just do it for simplicity. You can setup your raid 1 the way you like and the installation will work. You can mirror your /, /home, /tmp, /var, swap, ... any partition that you like.

Are you using the red hat installer? Did you look at the above links? From the redhat one:
