It would be great if any of the admins or mods contacted Jeremy and managed to get here at least the howtos (and it would be great if they would do it quickly:-) ). I was acually looking for one I know it's there when I found what happened.

However, this could be a chance for the DDs to start an OFFICIAL Debian forum. It would be great.

I have the same username here as there. If I have to many I forget them all... lol

I hope it comes back up, it is the home page on all my computers. And saddens me every time I load up my browser.

I joined forums.debian.net shortly after I installed Debian. I can't believe its gone. I see however that a lot of the regulars from debian.net are here, so maybe it won't be so bad. To further add insult to injury my main hardddrive got smoked yesterday. When it rains it pours.....

Sorry to hear man. Hope you had it backed up...
Here isn't going to be the same as debian forums, I want to talk about just debain. I really couldn't care less about any other distro, to tell you the truth...

gnudude==meandean==nrvitsquad==souneedalink==deepscan==hiddenagenda==...

The official-semi-unofficial word is that they will be back online. I think they handled the situation poorly but it really isn't any of my business. So just sit back and wait I guess...

This isn't my first county fair...I keep everything important backed up. Just a pain is all.. I went out & bought 2 new terabyte drives, gonna set a mirror array when I get the time...anyhoo...now that I see you, Meandean, and Lou, here, I am slowly adjusting...maybe Rickh will stop by I am not a prolific poster, but I do enjoy reading most of the posts, except the silly questions. I also don't really care about other distros, but I do love a good controversy/flame war (Geez I miss rickh!

ain`t there left a bit of hope? (thanks jackiebrown for the threads you made giving the info)
I'm about to install squeeze soon (coming from PCLOS 2009.1) so I decided to see what the Debian community was like. And then I found the shutdown notice. I'm sorry you guys...

But LQ seems like a pretty happening place, so I signed up here.
Hopefully the Debian sub-forum here can help users like the old mailing list did!

Hopefully they put it back up, too.

Hate to see the old forum bite the dust; what a terrific place, many great contributors. Hopefully linuxquestions.org (or somebody) will pick up the slack ... or maybe we'll get a miraculous resurrection.

Rickh here is indeed Rickh from Debian forums. At the Debian forums, people began to ask where he was at least a few months ago. I felt a bit odd talking about this in this half-public half-anonymous context, so I haven't said anything up until now. All of that said, I worry that he may have passed away. The last I heard from him (via a message here), he was pretty ill. I sent him a private message in January, and I haven't heard anything.
