Yeah, I have viewed this forum countless times, but only just joined today. I really should have registered years ago, and I am sorry it took the Debian forum going down to push me into getting my act together. Better late than never.
Hopefully, the outage of the Debian forum will be temporary. Yes, there is an abundance of knowledge stored in all those threads. Between this forum and that one, I have been able to learn enough to rarely ever need to ask a question.

Ditto. And I'm just now singing up but I have found tons of linux help here. I came here cause I loved tje debian forums, and this one look good too. I've found lots of help here, so here I am. I really hope the debian forums come back! btw I'm 14, I use debian sid and ubuntu jaunty.
We should work out a system where Debian forum folks use their name from there as a nickname here or somesuch. That way, we will all know who we're talking to. Edit: mine's easy, obviously.
I really hope they put the forum back up some day. Lots of great howtos and helpful threads there. At least it's good to see some familiar looking nicks around here. Now we can start discussing whether Debian users are "elitist pr**ks" or not.

Just pm Jermy and hwill change you username if asked nicely, hes done it plenty of times for me.
I, too was shocked to find the forums "gone". Actually, I quickly refreshed my browser in hopes that a simple "refresh" would bring it all back.
I feel similarly in that the amount of knowledge there frequently kept me from having to ask a question, but I found myself browsing the threads anyway on a daily basis.
(Member name here already matches my deb forum name)
"Elistist pr**ck" here. But I'll also answer to "arrogant a'hole." I'm not giving 'em up either! It took me a long time to earn those titles with so little natural talent.
I have merged the two threads about this into one to keep the discussion in one place. To sweeten it I have made this thread sticky so that it should be easily findable. Once the forum is back up I'll unstick this thread.
That, and the howtos were good. And to think some members were worried about the reputation of the forums due to the 'insensitivity' to the basic questions of some Windows refugees who never bothered to read the docs and howtos. I guess nature took its course.
