Debian/GNU Forums??????

Does anyone know where a good forum for Debian/GNU distro is. Most Distro's have a forum specifically for their Distro, i.e the Mandrake User Board, LFS, Gentoo....

I only ask because I am going to try and install Debian 2.2r6 tonight and I have already heard some horror stories about the install and would just like to know where to go for Debian specfic questions.

I haven't had a whole lot of luck finding Debian specific anything so far. Any help would be appreciated.

Debian is usually chosen by people with quite long Linux experience. Maybe that's why you can't find Debian-specific info. After all.. In case of problems, write here.

The debian-users mailing list is very active,
if your questions are not specific to Debian most anyone can help you.

I agree with the above posters; Debian's mailing lists are a good resource, but beware; subscribing is a good way to get a full mailbox!

And the installation of debian is a pleasure, the hard part can be the after configuration, and on the install cd´s there is a guide and a faq...

Pleasure you say, I guess you've never tried upgrading to "woody" with a 28K line.

It's a pain - for sure.But a lot better than downloading 4 CD's worth of ISO's.

Well okay with a 28k line every dist. is a pain, i normally buy cd´s when doing major upgrades. The installation itself is pretty easy and there is good explanations underway..

Debian's misnomered "unstable" tree is fairly up to date. It's not bleeding edge but it certainly oozes a little.

I took the pot-cd only for booting and basic system install. After that d/l'ed straight from woody. I got KDE,Gnome and some more stuff in there - typical install. Had to d/l about 500megs - take or give a little. But with a 28k that would still take forever. Can't you get a hold of a faster line for a couple of hours? Or just throw in pot and update a bit at a time - let it run overnight.
