no error message, just operating system not found
as mentioned, it's just that the computer does not use/find the boot loader, starting via install USB onto the system works.
I got no error, everything looked fine, though a setup of a other distro, openSUSE, detected partitions but told me that the disk is useless as it is.
so I started now from scratch, remove the existing GPT, recreate and make partitions following the UEFI guide, since I can not figure out how to not use a GPT, writing this will packages are copied to the disk and hoping for the best (that it works fine this time). will see
edit:
did not work, the setup does detect efi partition, puts it into fstab, but installs lilo as if there is no UEFI.
and did also not ask for elilo installation, even if it should, refering to the documentation.
the only difference I had to the documentation is that I skipped making the boot disk
what a mess
do I need to run isohybrid --uefi before I put the iso on USB or anything else special?
edit2:
bingo, created the isohybrid --uefi usb install stick, but laptop into UEFI only mode, run the installation, now as in the documentation elilo and the machine is booting into Slackware!
Hurra, though, I see some potential to improve the documentation and I guess not all varations are tested/documented.
a lot of reasons for beginners to drop out, this should not be like that.
ok, looks good, now I have my first Slackware on UEFI installation, not totally by own choice, but I am satisfied
it boots fast without doing anything
if former times I had to open lilo.conf, un comment compact, than I build a init rd, changed the entry ...
is this not required anymore with UEFI?
what is the procedure on a kernel update?
can I change the stuff in /boot/efi as wanted? is there a docu section on slackwiki?
there is an other entry in /boot/efi/EFI, from a test installation yesterday
strange since whiped out everything as in the docu and than I created the partition in the setup with cgdisk.
