I'm sticking with 32-bit for my main installation, but I'm going to install 64-bit -current alongside that.

Correct! It is released when it is released, not when the news reaches some distant places! Congrats JTURNING!

Filleted Feline. Yes, I like it. Sort of makes Slackware as classy as Ubuntu. It should put us right up there at Number 1 at Distrowatch

I was tired yesterday after all of the excitement of installing 13.0, thank goodness for bittorrent.
I just now bought a DVD for 13.0 at the Slackware Store.
Let us support Pat so he can continue his important work.

I find it interesting that the first server to ever have a new release available in ISO form is ftp.heanet.ie. Thats where I got my Slack64 yesterday. Quite fast too. 2400KB/s.

Figures. I recently moved back to Slack after a couple of years running Xubuntu, I've just about got my main PC and laptop installations whipped into shape - and a major new version gets released.

* shakes fist at the heavens *

Well the good news is that Slackware 13 - both 32 and 64 bit as files and ISOs are avaliable for download right now.

But...

The CD .iso images (32 bit) appear to be corrupt! I've tried downloading the first CD (.iso) now twice and the second and third ISOs as well. The first CD will not boot on any system, won't get as far as the installer. All 3 have wrong MD5 values. x.x . Hope the CDs/DVDs from slackware themselves won't have this problem!

I don't know about the other CDs, but I downloaded CD1 from torrent, and it worked fine and dandy here. I only used it as a boot disk, but installed worked fine.

I've had the problem of corrupt CD's before on Slack 12.1, so I bought the stuff from the Slackware store and then it was all good - no errors.

This time I downloaded Slack 13 and all three CD's checked out fine with MD5. However, I really installed Slack 13 from some DVD my cousin downloaded. It works fine and I haven't had any errors during install. Yay! By the way, it would be good to check the .iso on the hard drive and then the burned CD itself.

Maybe you should try a slower burn speed on your CD burner. One last thought, is that your CD-drive might not be working properly. You can test your CD-rom by checking a CD that is known to be error free. If it checks out with an error, you probably have a bad CD-drive. I've had that happen before at work.

It's something hitest guided me to. The post is from onebuck.
