Not anymore, both 14.2 and -current have the same Firefox version, which doesn't use gstreamer, only ffmpeg. Of course, in 14.2 you have to install ffmpeg from SBo, while -current has it included.

Pale Moon has been locking up solid on some sites, e.g.,

https://www.phoronix.com/scan.php?page=home

and not fully displaying the page on others, e.g.,

https://www.wsj.com/public/page/news...s-trading.html

In the second example it is not displaying the "Complete Currency Data."

Firefox has no problems with either site.

I agree with you 100%. When I use Firefox, pbskids and youtube video plays with no issues. I wanted to give pale moon another spin because I have it on my Windows computer and have used it over the years. I guess I might have to tweak it a lil bit to suit my needs.

In the case of the first site, yes, it does display, but then it will lock up solid and the only option is to terminate Pale Moon.

I cannot tell from your second image if it is showing the box with the list of currencies and their most recent exchange rates vs. the U.S. Dollar.

One other thing that has happened on various other sites is I'll go to type something into the search box, up to the right of the URL box, and that action will cause Pale Moon to shut down and vanish in the blink of an eye.

I guess I should say I run Slackware64 14.2 + Multilib and I built PaleMoon via the SBo PaleMoon.SlackBuild

1. I've gone thru several Phoronix links without any issues.

2. I am not sure what the WSJ Site SHOULD look like ...

Did you actually first upgrade Slackware's oxygen-gtk2 package with my patched version?

It would be helpful if people explained what Pale Moon package they use; and for example if they compiled it, what compiler they used to compile Pale Moon with.

Agreed.

I run PaleMoon on Slackware64 14.2 + Multilib + KDE 4 + Alien Bob's oxygen-gtk2.

I built ( compiled ) PaleMoon 27.3.0 with clang from the SBo PaleMoon.SlackBuild.

I __DID__ initially suffer crashes when clicking PaleMoon Menus before installing Alien Bob's oxygen-gtk2 package on May 7.

Since then, PaleMoon has been solid. No crashes at all and seems to render pages correctly.

This is my `do-PaleMoon.SlackBuild.sh` script:

./$DoName 2>&1                                           |tee -a $LogNam

Well..... I did download it, but somehow must have forgotten to install it, as it wasn't there when I checked the /var/log/packages list.
Thanks, Pale Moon no long freezes up.
OTOH, the Wall Street Journal page problem remains.
I"ve been starting the morning with Firefox to read the Journal, and then move to Pale Moon for the rest of the day.

Thank you for going to the trouble of posting those images.

Here is what the remainder of the page should look like. The full page runs longer than what is shown here,

Yikes !

Thanks cwizardone ( and you're welcome )

PaleMoon rendering __IS__ borked on the WSJ site.

I wonder what else I am missing ?

Thanks again !

Interesting. I still don't see the Table of Currency Exchange Rates and I am not a Web Monkey but when I viewed the source for the WSJ Page you linked, I found this snippet:

Code:
<!-- CDS hostname /sbkj2kentwap09/ -->
<title>Currency Conversion &amp; Money Exchange Rates - Wsj.com</title>
<link rel="canonical" href="http://www.wsj.com/public/page/news-currency-currencies-trading.html" />
  <meta property="og:url" content="http://www.wsj.com/public/page/news-currency-currencies-trading.html" />
When I opened a new PaleMoon tab on the url in the code snippet, it displayed perfectly ( actually looks better than your FireFox Screen Shot ).

Like I said, I am not a DubDubDub Coder but maybe the WSJ code is borken ?

The Page is 'too tall' so I took two shots.

Indeed it is.

Don't blame the web browser for not rendering invalid web pages as intended by their coders

Then how does Firefox display the page in question and Pale Moon does not?
