Problems with Thunderbird-115 in Slackware64-current

The attached screenshot shows two problems. One, note the "shadow border" around Thunderbird and, two, the printing problem. This is the first time I've ever had a printing problem with Thunderbird. The box, as you see it in the image, pops up and the circle keeps spinning, i.e., that print job is never sent to the printer. And, now, the same problem exists with Firefox. No printing problems with Vivaldi or LibreOffice.
Having trouble uploading the image. The board is telling me I don't have permission to access "this page."
Whatever......

While I basically agree with your earlier comment "change for the sake of change", I made the switch since one has to get used to the interface changes. However, I can't replicate either issues. There's no shadow board here (se attached), and printing works (OK, I didn't send to printer but "Save to PDF" and "Generic-Cups-PDF-Printer" both work).

But our setups may differ, since:

(1) I haven't installed Pat's package since I always (since ages back) simply download and extract the thunderbird tar.bz2 file to /opt, and
(2) we use different DEs (I'm on MATE).

@kgha, Thanks for your reply.

I'm still not able to add the image to the first post and have reverted, once again, to the previous version of Thunderbird.

A minor bug fix of thunderbird-115, version 115.0.1, was released this morning.
The printing problem appears to have been fixed, but the "shadow border" remains.
Just tried to upload a new image, but had the same problem as with the first image.

for me the reason for downgrade is that tb 102 ... looks better: better looking fonts (I use commercial OTF so if TB can't handle high quality fonts in 2023 then maybe TB team needs to work to fix this) and it follows general window decorations (Plasma) in contrast to TB 115.
However i did not have issues with shadow or printing

Agreed! Appearance was also a concern. Version 102 is definitely better looking!

As reported in the first post in this thread, note the "shadow border" around Thunderbird. This latest version, 115.1.0, looks better than the first release and doesn't have the printing problem, but it still does not display itself properly (as you can see).
Any thoughts?
Thanks.

In Thunderbird Settings / General, there is a section called Language & Appearance.
Uncheck Hide system window Titlebar.

This will solve the plasma problem.

That does it.
Thank you very much.
However overall, IMHO, version 12.x.y, still presents a better looking interface.
Thanks, again.
