Linux on raid1 with sil3121a
Sorry if this has been asked before...
Has anybody been running Linux on raid1 (mirror) on mobo's with Sil 3121a chipset, using kernel 2.6.6/7 and libata, long enough to tell whether or not it works without problems?
Mobo is Asus A7N8X Deluxe v.2; Sil3121a is a revision late enough not to have the problems referred on the first revision(s). OS is Slack 9.1/10, kernel selfcompiled, no probemas here.
I'm well aware that 'native' raid1 using sil3121a means that both drives can be seen/accessed from Linux, though the OS should see only one drive.
I can live with taht, as long as it works without problems.
I did a test install some time ago, and didn't like being able to see both drives. At that time, there was no significant references as to stability or problems; this may have changed during the latest months.
I testet that the mirror could be broken and recreated, and that data did get mirrored correctly, so the 'native' part should be just fine.
It's the OS/driver part that worries me.
Can anyone set me at ease here...
(and no, I'm not interested in Linux software raid though I know that the Sil raid is also software fakeraid :- )
