For users of Xfce.

Xfce 4.10

Hi: In some desktop enviroments there is a button by pressing which all open windows minimize. I cannot find a similar way of simultaneously minimizing all windows and letting only the desktop. Is there one?

Apparently it's ctrl+alt+d. You can change it to whatever you want by going to settings->window manager, then the keyboard tab. It's 'show desktop' towards the bottom.

Yea that keyboard bindings menu almost deserves it's own icon IMO.. I recently found out XFCE 4.10 can tile windows if you go in there and keybind the 'tile window left/right' entries. A few other handy ones in there too!

I'm not sure about the right denomination (since my Xfce is in french), but basically it's right click on any panel > Add to panel > Show desktop. There you have the same little icon as in Windows, where you can toggle the display of all windows.

Took me a moment to understand, but Kikinovak, in the message just above, beat me to it. As Kikinovak said, it is a plug-in for the panel called "Show Desktop" that accomplishes the same thing. One click and the desktop is clean, another click and the desktop is restored.
