Cannot boot linux mint from USB thumb drive on Asus Transformer Book T100TA-C1-GR-B

Hi everyone;

As the title says, I am trying to install linux mint on an old asus transformer notebook. I have downloaded the iso for linux mint here: https://linuxmint.com/edition.php?id=246, and used this tool: https://www.pendrivelinux.com/univer...easy-as-1-2-3/ to create a bootable drive using a 64 GB thumb drive.

I got to the boot options screen, and selected the thumb drive, however the computer just booted windows as normal. I changed the boot order and disabled secure boot, however neither of these fixed the problem. I also tried the boot overide in the bios, however the screen just flashed blank for a second, then returned to the bios screen.

Anyone know what is going on or what I could do to fix this?

Thanks in advance!

i wouldn't use that tool to create the bootable USB medium.
i'm sure linux mint have instructions on how to do it (from windows or linux?) on their pages.

Ondoho is right, several tools to try would be Rufus, Etcher, or win32 disk imager.

They do indeed.

https://linuxmint-installation-guide...test/burn.html

Unless you want to create the medium from an existing Mint installation, they recommend Etcher.

Hi everyone;

Thanks for the various responses. I used etcher to create a new bootable usb medium, however I encountered the same problem!

laptop specs please.
both in your own words (age, CPU, RAM etc.), and from some spec sheet.

link to the exact linux mint version you "burned" to the usb.

avogadro602,

Installing Linux on the Asus T100TA is not straightforward, but it is possible.

I suggest that you follow the advice given here:

Yep "Intel Quad Core Bay Trail-T Z37401"

Those Atom Bay Trails have a number of issues. Maybe the newest distro's could install but as above, look to other sites for clues how to fix those problems.
