NVIDIA problems (NVIDIA-SMI has failed..., NVIDIA driver is not loaded....)

Hi guys, I have a optimus laptop with a NVIDIA GeForce 820m. So, I've installed the nvidia-390xx drivers and rebooted, but it gives me a lot of problems.

dmseg:
Code:
[ 174.383492] nvidia-nvlink: Nvlink Core is being initialized, major device number 238
[ 174.383505] NVRM: The NVIDIA GeForce 820M GPU installed in this system is
NVRM: supported through the NVIDIA 390.xx Legacy drivers. Please
               NVRM: visit http://www.nvidia.com/object/unix.html for more
NVRM: information. The 470.103.01 NVIDIA driver will ignore
               NVRM: this GPU. Continuing probe...
[ 174.384136] NVRM: No NVIDIA GPU found.
[ 174.384678] nvidia-nvlink: Unregistered the Nvlink Core, major device number 238
nvidia-smi:
Code:
NVIDIA-SMI has failed because it couldn't communicate with the NVIDIA driver. Make sure that the latest NVIDIA driver is installed and running.
nvidia-settings:
Code:
ERROR: NVIDIA driver is not loaded

ERROR: Error querying enabled displays on GPU 0 (Missing Extension).

ERROR: Error querying connected displays on GPU 0 (Missing Extension).

ERROR: nvidia-settings could not find the registry key file. This file should have been
installed along with this driver at
       /usr/share/nvidia/nvidia-application-profiles-key-documentation. The application
profiles will continue to work, but values cannot be prepopulated or validated, and
will not be listed in the help text. Please see the README for possible values and
       descriptions.
As soon as nvidia-settings opens, a popup shows this message:
Code:
You do not appear to be using the nvidia x server
Since it is a optimus laptop, I've already tried to switch to full dedicated GPU support by following this: https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/NVI..._graphics_only, but unsuccesful (I'm not on arch, but it should work just the same).
At the end of all this, what can I do?

Thank you.

You need the 418.113 driver
First, purge already installed nVidia drivers.

If I remember correctly, Venom is Slackware-based, is it not?
You may have to ask in the Slackware forum for install. In fact, I saw there is a current thread on the subject in that forum.

I used the old run file method, but it seems to be in disfavor, at present.
