Bootup problems

My machine has 2 hard drives. One with W2K the other RedHat 7.2 When starting i am wanting it to boot to a screen where i either press enter or linux to boot to linux or type dos & boot into Widows.

This is not happening I am getting the screen where hitting my tab key shows these two options but if trying to boot to windows i get an error & the system actually locks up.

fdisk -l shows the following

Device Boot Start End Blocks Id System
/dev/hda1 * 1 1530 12289693+ c Win95 FAT32 (LBA)
/dev/hda2 1531 2500 7791525 f Win95 Ext'd (LBA)
/dev/hda5 1531 2500 7791493+ 7 HPFS/NTFS

Disk /dev/hdb: 255 heads, 63 sectors, 2434 cylinders
Units = cylinders of 16065 * 512 bytes

Device Boot Start End Blocks Id System
/dev/hdb1 * 1 6 48163+ 83 Linux
/dev/hdb2 7 2337 18723757+ 83 Linux
/dev/hdb3 2338 2434 779152+ 82 Linux swap

Disk /dev/hdc: 255 heads, 63 sectors, 1247 cylinders
Units = cylinders of 16065 * 512 bytes

Device Boot Start End Blocks Id System
/dev/hdc1 * 1 101 811251 83 Linux
/dev/hdc2 102 1247 9205245 f Win95 Ext'd (LBA)
/dev/hdc3 1248 1248 0 e Win95 FAT16 (LBA)
/dev/hdc5 102 869 6168928+ 83 Linux
/dev/hdc6 870 1247 3036253+ 82 Linux swap

& my lilo.conf has this

prompt
timeout=50
default=linux
boot=/dev/hda
map=/boot/map
install=/boot/boot.b
#message=/boot/message
lba32

image=/boot/vmlinuz-2.4.7-10
label=linux
initrd=/boot/initrd-2.4.7-10.img
read-only
root=/dev/hdb2

other=/dev/hda5
optional
label=dos

Short of doing the install all over again can anyone see a config error to my problem??

Regards

Andrew

Try this

it seems that your configuration is somewhat wrong..
try to change the lilo.conf file like below

prompt
timeout=50
default=linux
boot=/dev/hda
map=/boot/map
install=/boot/boot.b
#message=/boot/message
lba32

image=/boot/vmlinuz-2.4.7-10
label=linux
initrd=/boot/initrd-2.4.7-10.img
read-only
root=/dev/hdb2

# I have changed here from 5 change to 3 or 2. this might help
other=/dev/hda3
optional
label=dos

call me if you what
