I remember reading somewhere about how they could financially justify giving each person 1 gig of space, but I wonder if this would hold true if I opened 10 of my own accounts? (not that I would need to)
Can't wait for it though...I somehow feel wrong using hotmail
I really don't think there's much of a chance to get a beta Gmail account though, I'm sure thousands of people have signed up for it already.

when i logged on to open an account i got a message saying that i has to have IE or Netscape 7.1 ...guess it didn't like Konqueror....didn't try to access it with Mozilla, so i don't know if that would have worked...
so i downloaded Netscape 7.1 for linux.....as soon as i get a chance i'm gonna try to sign up again....i'd like to give it a try....

Think about it though.... If you sign up for 10, will you ever fill up those 10? highly unlikely unless you subscribed to tons of mailing lists and newsletters and checked each account so that they wouldn't expire.
I am also subscribed to some other forms and there are ways to get Gmail accounts. Namely, know a blogger or a tech writer who has one and get them to send you a referral. People that have Gmail accounts in the beta phase have the ability to send out a few invites to people if they want.
