Yes, I did see that. It certainly doesn't qualify as accounts being deleted for no reason, though.
Agreed but in the absence of anything specific about mass cancellations, I could only come up with that.

Well, if one has been following what's been done to children in schools and hospitals, the opposition isn't surprising.
Business will take a hit until these entities' activity at Mastodon gets into high gear.
Oh, and any cancellations that are accidental can be reversed, can't they?
I don't really give two <expletives> about Twitter - period. I'm somewhat bemused by the apparent stupidity of the chief twit, and his management of a $44 Billion Asset via the airwaves. But I'm prepared to give him till things calm down and we see where we are.
In other news, some Irish Twitter manager has secured a high court injunction against Twitter to be allowed to do her job. She didn't sign up to work all hours, was duly frozen out, and went to court to get her job back. She has an injunction ordering Twitter to temporarily let her back in. In this country, Twitter can't demand unpaid overtime. Labour law is enforced here. They will have to do it by the laws of the land if they want her out. Signing upto work all hours without pay is viewed as an unreasonable condition, and they cannot demand that of her. She will have an arguable case for unfair dismissal for any reaction to that injunction.

1) They now have to hold a vote among shareholders
2) If they do not hold a vote then the CEO/BOD are in violation of their fiduciary responsibilities to the shareholders and would face SEC fines/charges, also would be removed from their positions.
Twitter is now a private company, The NY stock exchange suspended trading stock and it should have been delisted by now.
I see that particular post content has been deleted. Nevermind.

"Good conversation. Among other things, we resolved the misunderstanding about Twitter potentially being removed from the App Store. Tim was clear that Apple never considered doing so."
In Irish news, the court backed the (fairly senior) manager who was locked out over the "Work like a slave or go" ultimatum. Twitter has let her back in. But it's back in the courts next week. The court wants to check that Twitter is abiding by Labour Law in this country, and in all likelihood the manager will get her costs. She's at a level that she can't be made redundant, and she is fairly well protected from unfair dismissal. So Twitter's legal advice will be to keep her.
Her legal team pointed out that she didn't reply to this 'highly unusual email' and characterized Musk's ultimatum as if it was off the wall, and could have possibly been spam. Those who might have read Musk's twitter feed or read his public utterances know that actually, 'off the wall' is pretty normal for the chief twit.

'Ye, the rapper formerly known as Kanye West, has been suspended from Twitter after he tweeted an image of a swastika blended with a star of David, less than two weeks after he returned to the platform. ...Musk tweeted: “I tried my best. Despite that, he again violated our rule against incitement to violence. Account will be suspended."' https://www.theguardian.com/music/20...-star-of-david

To me, this looks like a mentally ill person having an extremely public breakdown, while being exploited on all fronts by a very diverse group of unscrupulous opportunists.
A Twitter suspension will at the very least help prevent him from making a spectacle of himself for a short while.
Well, my account is still there. My WIFE's account is still there, but when trying to log into it she gets a notice that her account is permanently (wait, permanently? Yup, she showed me the screen.) suspended for a rules violation. She has not tweeted anything for two weeks, and only retweeted others tweets a few days ago. The tweets she retweeted should not have been violations, but may have been jubilation at the outcome of some court hearings. She examined the rules carefully, and does not believe she has violated any rule EVER. She may have been following some group, page, or personality that has been removed with prejudice, but she cannot even log in to check that.
I have been trying to encourage her to migrate, or at least expand, to a truly free environment (like Mastodon, or even MeWe.com) but she is reluctant. Perhaps this will be the push she needs.

There was recently a purge of political extremist groups that directly advocate for violence. These groups have repeatedly used Twitter to organize various riots and acts of vandalism and harassment. If she retweeted any of their tweets, accidentally or not, then yes, her account would probably get banned.

I'm sure he'll find a way of doing that. Declare himself a Presidential candidate for 2024. You guys in the Excited States will have to find a way of stopping rich screwballs from trying that

I find it interesting that the policy against violence has been in place for quite a long while, and some of the recently purged group-s have been there much longer, and that they were not judged to be violent until NOW! I think the criteria for that judgement just changed. Greatly!
