Cool Software for Vector Linux Soho 5.1

I want to be able to use software, other than that which is included with the system ie Abiword etc.
I can see I can add repositories if I want.
Can you suggest any, please?

Thanks - a newbie on the block!

Since it's based on Slackware:
http://www.linuxpackages.net/

I'm not sure if it's wise to use its repo for updating though, but most packages should install just fine.

So what should I do, then, if that's not the best way?

On another subject, I like VL's quick system, and the fact that it offers me different Windows Managers, beyond the usual KDE, Gnome, Ice..etc, and that it offers a more pro looking desktop.
Does Slackware too? Would I do better with basic Debian? Your thoughts would be appreciated - thanks

While I've done little more than run the Vector Linux Live Cd. Slackware does offer an easy way to switch Window Managers. Just type xwmconfig at the commandline and you can choose from the installed choices.

Do you already have Vector soho 5.1 installed?

If so just use Gslapt as root to install any software that you would like to have running on your system.

Gslapt is an apt-get variant for Vector. I assume that you are using a gui windows manager so Gslapt will use the synaptic front end for apt-get.

For more information on apt-get and synaptic go to:
