vmlinux location

Hi,

I have installed the default Natty build. It does not contain vmlinux (only vmlinuz). How can I get the vmlinux that corresponds to this exact version of vmlinuz that is on the board.

Regards,

vmlinux and vmlinuz are the same thing, only vmlinuz is zip-compressed.

I can think of no obvious reason why you'd need the uncompressed version.

Maybe its not obvious. I need to profile the linux kernel. vmlinux allows my profiler to resolve addresses to function names, so I need uncompressed unstripped binaries. I dont need debug symbols though as I dont need to drill down to code line level.

Can you help?

I'm surprised that Ubuntu doesn't provide an easy way to get the unstripped vmlinux binary.

Does this mean that this is impossible on an Ubuntu distribution? Fedora easily provides this binary. Is the solution to move to Fedora?
Thanks
