Question trying to release an update of my Kubuntu Distro... one weird thing I can't fix (cursor)

Hello all,

I have been using Cubic this past week to try to release an updated version of my GNU/Linux distro. I haven't had a release in years and I'm starting to look worse than the Slackware devs (insert laugh track here).

This distro is meant to be an introduction to GNU/Linux for people that are not familiar with it and includes some educational content regarding some political/philosophical issues.

Anyways--I've been through this enough to know what I am doing for the most part, however, I cannot get the custom cursor to apply correctly. This did not use to be an issue a few years ago when I had my first release of my distro. From what I understand this has something to do with SNAP and how SNAP programs do not recognize custom cursors. So I went out of my way to replace any major programs with non-snap versions. This seems to fix the cursor issue at least when it comes to those programs.

However, whenever I load a Live USB of my distro or install the distro I get to keep the custom cursor as an option however it installs the default cursor that I f'ing hate every time. I manually deleted these cursors from the Chroot environment that Cubic provides however it seems like my action gets ignored--My custom cursor is still available to select but I have to manually select it, and it defaults to the standard breeze cursor theme no matter what I do (except for on the try/install this OS Menu, and ONLY if I do not enter the sddm userspace desktop environment first).

How can I get rid of all those other cursors once and for all? I want my distro to only come with Moblin cursor theme by default. I've been using that cursor for years and I just really like it and want anyone who is using my OS for the first time to have Moblin be the default. I went out of my way to manually delete the other cursor themes and set the moblin cursor as the default using update-alternatives but it just keeps installing the default Kubuntu cursor themes and sticking to those no matter what I do! So frustrating! Any ideas? (and before you ask, yes, I put the moblin cursor theme in /etc/skel and then manually installed it using dpkg -i * yada yada).
