GAIM and Ubuntu

I sucessfully installed ubuntu and it is very nice. It's prolly the best Linux version I have tried. But I cannot get GAIM to run in it. It will connect to msn (very slowly I might add) but it cannot seem to connect to YM and AIM/ICQ. Has anyone else had that problem? Is there a solution? Thanks for the help.

this will have nothing to do with ubuntu, but the version of GAIM. make sure you're on the very latest version. Yahoo! and co. keep changing their protocols to stop third party programs working. also see the gaim faqs.

Thanks Chris.... I am not really sure what's going on there... the internet on Ubuntu is extremely slow. I noticed that apt-get seems to download and install programs fine, but when trying to browse the web it is very slow. Maybe this has something to do with the GAIM issue also. Any help is appreciated...

I wouldn't think that web browsing should have anything related with gaim issues, I'd look to see if you are using any sort of proxies, also make sure that your net connection itself is ok, ie are ya on a dial up or broadband. etc etc... also make sure to do the updates via apt or synaptic on a regular basis. not much info to go on or I'd make more suggestions....
