Hallo,
i have ubuntu 18.04 on my laptop, 32bit.
I bought a usb-Headset from logitech (H650e) which supports
linux as operating system. The Heaset ist recognized and
works just fine sometimes, mainly if the somputer boots
with the headset plugd in but not always. Sometimes the
usb-port is disconnected reconnected, but keeps disconnecting
again. The dmesg looks like this:
usb usb4-port1: disabled by hub (EMI?), re-enabling...
Then I get a lot of such messages:
usb 4-1: can't read configurations, error -71
usb 4-1: device descriptor read/64, error -71
Thanks pan64 for your fast reply. It gave me the possibility of learning
something new about my os. I did set my headset successfully as the default
device, but this does not seem to change the behaviour. The port still
disconnect und reconnect again
Physically moving the wireless USB stick from the mainboard by connecting it to an external USB hub connected with a 2 meter cable made the disconnect problems go away.
Hallo,
it's my very first time trying to solve a problem by asking direkt in a forum
and i am very happy to get help this way. So thanks again and already in advance.
I'm still fighting: it looks like, the usb-port is so unstable that each
interaction with anything else (plug-in of the power-cable, plug-in of an other
usb-device, touching the headset(!)) makes it disconnect. I just realized, that
if the laptop is booted with usb-Headset und without power-cable than the headset
semms to work fine!
Thanks again if you have an idea!
Try an external usb hub, another usb port, usb extension cable...
It looks like it is is a hardware related issue and cannot be repaired, you need to try to find a working setup.
