I'm running SuSe Linux, Enterprise server 9. At the KDE graphical login I'm trying to display a login banner. I believe I need to edit the file /etc/opt/kde3/share/config/kdm/kdmrc. Is this the correct file that I need to edit? If so, what part the file do I need to change? Thanks.

Sorry I use opensuse 10.2 but if I was trying to do what you are planning I would print off:-

/etc/opt/kde3/share/config/kdm/kdmrc

which I assume is just a text file and see were it points to for the login-picture - I would guess at a png file. Once you tracked the file down make a copy (just add the tag .bak to the name). Then replace your own picture file (making sure that it has the same dimensions as the system one) and see if it works. If not replace your replacement file with the back-up copy of the original and start again.
