loading CLI programs in X at startup

two related questions.

Q1
i want to load irssi when i log in to fluxbox, how would i do it? i knew it would work but i tried sticking it in the ./fluxbox/startup

Q2
every time i logged into fluxbox the xscreensaver deamon would fail to start. i fixed this by putting it in ./fluxbox/startup. which works, but the only thing is you get a xscreensaver splash screen when you login and have to click on it dismiss it.

a minor qibble i know, but still annoying me

any helpis most appreshated.

1. I don't know anything about irssi but if it's a console app, you need to run it in a terminal (e.g. 'xterm -e irssi'). Replace xterm with rxvt/aterm or whatever you prefer.

2. I don't use screensavers, as they burn cpu time and waste electricity so I can't help you there.

Works here. I don't have irssi, but can start other applications that way. Another way is to put in your ~/.xinitrc.
