Linux Printing...Next Steps

Hi and thanks for reading. I'm looking to upgrade my printer and I have a few items that I've historically struggled with using CUPS and my EPSON CX8400. I'm hoping to get some recommendations about a better configuration.

1) I have to use CUPS 1.39 for my USB CX8400 to work. I'd like to be able to stay current on CUPS.

2) I would very much like the capability to have a feeder particularly to scan multiple sheets into 1x PDF and either email or have it appear in a folder, etc. I've not been successful in determining a printer/software combination that allows this. Does anyone have any recommendations on how to accomplish this? Currently, I scan page by page and combine using ghostscript.

3) Other to narrow the printer recommendation: I'd like to maintain color capability; a fax is not required; scan and print is what I use. 2 side would be a nice to have but not required.

Thanks!

PS: Running Slack Current w/ CUPS 1.39 and planning to upgrade my printer soon!

I would recommend you find a few different printers that have the features you are looking for. Then check out the following site for compatibility:
