A potential refugee from XP ....
I've had a lot of experience with Windows, but still a Linux newbie.
I like Puppy, as much as anything because I can understand how to mount things - the hardest of all the things to understand. For me.
But I really, really, would like to have Partimage, so that I can back-up other Linux installations. Partimage is not on the list of installations that Puppy put out.
From my browsing I think this is possible, but I'm not sure yet. Can I just get an RPM and install it? If so which one? There is a confusing number of them about, all specified for a particular Linux OS.
can try clicking on "Static i386 binary tarball" , extract it to a new directory of it own in puppy and run it staright ... like "./partimage" and/or "./partimaged"
Thanks, alred and beagle2. That was one of the easiest things I have done. Now that I know what to do.
Now: is it possible to run this from a GUI? Or even have a shortcut on the desktop? I had to use the command line to run this. No big deal, but computers are there to do the work for us.

The dotpup partimage package I installed appears now in the main menu so I can just click on it to run. I see a file in /root .myownmenurc with the following in it

Well didn't do much at all - downloaded the partimage.dotpup clicked on it and it installed and appeared in the menu. Assume that .myownmenurc file was created then so you could try and amend it to suit your own needs I suppose. Had to "show hidden files " in the file manager first.
You seem to have found the fabled Partimage.dotpup
Google is unable to find it; the only reference to Partimage.pup is in a posting in another forum from someone who knew it existed but could not find it where he thought it was.
Looks like I will have to make do with what I have. Unless you know where to find it.
