Resume screen randomly turns black (desktop w/NVIDIA)

Hi all,

I recently began to randomly experiment a complete black screen when tying to resume from a suspended state on my PC. I'm pretty sure this behavior started after a fairly big upgrade. Instead of trying to downgrade, I decided to switch to the testing branch, to no avail.

When getting the black screen, all 3 screens turn completely black (no cursor) and TTY shortcuts don't seem to respond either. Energy does seem to turn on normally, as the power indicator on the case stops blinking and all three monitors turn back on.

Thanks in advance for any pointer on how to better understand the underlying cause

When getting the black screen, all 3 screens turn completely black (no cursor) and TTY shortcuts don't seem to respond either. Energy does seem to turn on normally, as the power indicator on the case stops blinking and all three monitors turn back on.
This may seem like an off-the-wall question, but, just to get clear in my mind, when you say the "energy does seem to turn on normally," do you mean that it turns on spontaneously, or is this after a power-off and power-on?

Hi there,

I mean when I intentionally touch a key in the keyboard or touch the power button in order to resume power.

And you already ran a full sync/upgrade after that? Too bad.
If testing on Manjaro is anything like [testing] on Archlinux, I wouldn't be surprised if that finally messed up your system.

Anyhow:
  • did it work normally before the big upgrade?
  • is the behaviour 100% reproducible? If not, elaborate.
  • Have you posted on Manjaro forums?

Hey!

I switched to the testing branch after the problem appeared. I did post on Manjaro forums, but all I got was several "it happens to me too" from other users. The problem hasn't reappeared since the last upgrade (it was about the fifth after the problem started).

Thanks for your help,
