pacmac - Authentication Failed

For the last few months I have been receiving a message to advise that 'Authentication Failed'
whenever I try to use pamac. If I then go to the command line and use pacman I receive no such issue.

Part of the problem is that I am no longer being prompted to enter a password after pressing the
'Apply' button.

I have tried searching for a solution but my particular issue does not seem to be common.

Any help greatly appreciated Also let me know if there is any further information required which might assist in a solution?

Hi,
I never use Pamac...I update in the terminal.
Just out of curiosity...have you tried this?
Since the WIKI still is insecure, I cannot help there other than what I gave already...

So I am still having this issue with the pamac-manager. i have found a few new things though:

1. I am not able to open the preferences dialog from within the manager. I simply get no response from clicking the button from the menu.

2. In the history log I found the following information and wondered if anyone had thoughts on whether it is the cause and if so of any possible solution?
Code:
[2013-06-11 04:39] [PACMAN] Running 'pacman -Sy'
[2013-06-11 04:33] [ALPM-SCRIPTLET] Unable to autolaunch a dbus-daemon without a $DISPLAY for X11
[2013-06-11 04:33] [ALPM-SCRIPTLET] (gconftool-2:1472): GConf-WARNING **: Client failed to connect to the D-BUS daemon:
