XFree86 Upgrade

I am intending to upgrade XFree86 ver.4.1 to Ver 4.3 I am using Mandrake 9.0
The xinstall.sh file reccomends that I backup (the existing ver. - I think ) before I start.
Could anyone tell me which files I need to backup - to any particular directory? and whatuse would they be if for example I was left with only text screens?

Also do I need to look out for any points to watch in the procedure?

Am I worrying overmuch!

Thanks

Thames

Backup /etc/X11/XF86Config-4. All other files can be restored from MDK installation cds. In case of trouble, you reinstall all X RPMS, then copy XF86Configu-4 back into its place and its done.

Edit:
Quote:
XFree86 -version

XFree86 Version 4.3.0
Release Date: 27 February 2003
X Protocol Version 11, Revision 0, Release 6.6
Just upgraded my MDK... Run 'Mandrake Update' and you can download new RPMs.
