upgrade xfree86 to v4.4


has anyone updated xfree86 to v4.4 and are there any suggestions/tips for it? thanks. i see a bunch of different files for 2.3, 2.2, etc. . what's that all about? thanks.

I'm using v4.4, my nVidia drivers work best with XFree86
than with Xorg..........

i'm using mandrake 10. i think it comes w/ v4.3. what's the improvement between 4.3 and 4.4? (so far, my fonts work fine....video is also ok. however, i don't play games so i dunno if my equipment is working properly). only thing that i don't like is that the gtk2 apps like gaim and gimp 2.0 have fonts that are really jagged while the gtk1 apps (gimp 1.25 look great). would upgrading xfree86 help this?
