I've installed Kaffeine (and also have MPlayer and Dragon Player) and none of these will play DVDs on my PC. I've also installed the latest version of libdvdcss, so I don't think that's the problem.
Mandriva is nice enough to tell you when you don't have the appropriate Codecs installed and, whenever that message has popped up, I've installed the appropriate Codecs.
What happens is as follows: I pop a DVD into the drive and - irrespective of which application I choose to play it - the system either does nothing or displays only the first title page on the DVD. In the case of Kaffeine, I get a "Stopped" message in the upper left corner with a black screen.
This is almost enough to drive me back to PCLinuxOS and its lacking implementation of of KDE 4.3. At least it can play DVDs without issue.
But, fortunately, in most other respects, Mandriva 2010 is a first-class, polished distribution.
