I am trying to install a UPS on a Mandrake 9.2 system, PowerAlert asks for the port (USB cable) anyone know what you put in for the USB? I tried /dev/usb1 but that didn't seem to work.
If you run usbview you can see if the device has been configured correctly. If it has not, it'll appear in red.
I believe that some USB UPS devices actually use the same 'driver' as usb joysticks - hid.o
If you find that your device hasn't been configured, try (as root) running either modprobe hid or insmod hid
Once you've established that is it working, then you can check what device it is. Mandrake uses a nice device filesystem so it might be something like /dev/usb/ups - I've not got one so I can't be certain.
I'm trying to figure out which device a USB key is accessible as, so I know what to mount. I tried usbview as you suggested, but I don't really understand this output. Which device do I mount ?

Thanks! I tried usbview and it told me it could not find /proc/bus/usb/devices so I am guessing that I don't have the usb modules loaded. How do I do this?
