it seems like this mirror is down for a reason.
you should try another one.

and delete the file hdlist.updates.cz from var/lib/urpmi
to make a clean newly update

hope it works now

Unhappy

Hi,

I'm still having the same problem too. I thought I had it fixed, but my update is still crashing with the same message you are getting.

I've been to easy urpmi, followed all of the instructions. It still does not work.

I've tried updating in the wee hours of the morning hoping the servers would not be as busy to no avail.

I have tried several different mirrors - it doesnt work.

I have deleted the files in var/logs/urpmi - no joy.

Maybe someone who has a clue can give us a hand.

Let me know if you find a breakthrough.

Good luck

Paul

Unhappy urpmi problem still

Hello again;

OS - Mandrake 9.1

I have nuked all files in /var/lib.urpmi and rebuilt everything I could in the Mandrake Control Center/Software Manager/Software Sources Manager.

I then went to easy urpmi and went through step 1, 2 and 3. In step 3 I have chosen several US Sites to update from. I open a terminal session, do the su bit then enter the following:

urpmi.addmedia plf ftp://knight.zarb.org/pub/plf/9.1 with hdlist.cz

Here are the results of that command.

added medium plf
examining synthesis file [/var/lib/urpmi/synthesis.hdlist.Mandrake Install Disk 1.cz]
examining synthesis file [/var/lib/urpmi/synthesis.hdlist.Mandrake Install Disk 2.cz]
examining synthesis file [/var/lib/urpmi/synthesis.hdlist.Mandrake International Disk 3.cz]
examining synthesis file [/var/lib/urpmi/synthesis.hdlist.Downloaded Files.cz]
retrieving description file of "plf"...
retrieving source hdlist (or synthesis) of "plf"...
ftp://knight.zarb.org/pub/plf/9.1/hdlist.cz
...retrieving failed: curl failed: exited with 5 or signal 0

retrieve of source hdlist (or synthesis) failed
no hdlist file found for medium "plf"
examining synthesis file [/var/lib/urpmi/synthesis.hdlist.plf.cz]
problem reading synthesis file of medium "plf"
unable to update medium "plf"

At the beginning it says it "added medium plf", then at the end it says "problem reading synthesis file of medium "plf"" and "unable to update plf".

Examining the failure I noticed that it said that "curl failed exited with 5 or signal 0"

Reading the man pages if find that "exited with 5" is " Couldn't resolve proxy. The given proxy host could not be resolved."

I am on a dial up connection. I checked to see if I had a proxy configured - I don't.

Sorry to be so long, but I am getting rather frustrated.

Thanks if anyone can point me in the right direction.

Paul

Don't worry about the plf. You are wanting to update so you should be concentrating on getting the update to work.
Go back to easy urpmi and just select an update media. Then try the command.
urpmi.addmedia --update updates bla://bla.bla.com

If the command fails put the URL in the address bar of your browser and make sure it is valid. Try connecting via ftp and see if maybe the server is over its limits or it is requiring a password or something.
