soyo kt400 ultra

I having problems installing 9.2 on a Soyo KT400 Ultra mobo.
9.2 detects the hpt372 controller and loads the driver for it, but it
then keeps losing the interrupt to hda which is on IDE 3. It then, finally,
detects the sector/cyl count for hda but then after loading the drivers for a firewire card the install stalls trying to detect the IDE drives.
Any help here?

TIA,
john

Thanks, but at the install prompt typing "linux text noapic" worked fine.
