Mandriva 2009.1 display issues

Monitor is an Acer P221W. Video card is an NV11 Nvida GeForce2 MX400.
Harddrake automatically selected the RIVA TNT to GeForce 2 driver which
I don't think is correct. Overnight Monday night after about 8hrs of
non-use and last night after about 6hrs the display becomes unreadable
and power saving seems to have set in on the monitor, I have to reboot
the system to get back to normal again. When an hour or so goes by
without use there seems to be no problem. I do not have power saving set
in my Gnome screensaver nor anywhere else that I can find. I noticed the
'enable translucency (composite extension) was checked in the display
setup and I've now turned it off to see if that fixs the problem,
however going in just now to get the above information it's checked
again. Another thing I've noticed, and maybe this is a Gnome issue, that
in 'Gnome Command Center' under hardware/display it shows 'unknown' and a large red square block. Clicking "Detect Monitors" does nothing. In 2009.0 the monitor was correctly identified. Is there anything else I can do to troubleshoot this issue?
