Mandriva 10.2 on Dell LS400

Hey there guys!
I recently installed Mandriva 10.2 in my Dell LS400 and the installation went pretty smooth except at the end of the install i was unable to lauch X mode as the install did not detect the video adapter.
When manually installing the device it seems to work with MagicGraph 256AV; however, i cannot increase the video resolution higher than 800x600 24bit
I was wondering if anyone out there has been able to get other drivers that would alow me to increase the screen resolution.

Any hints or help will be really appreciated!

Are you doing this in the KDE control panel?

No, At first i did it thru XFdrake. I changed and test the Monitor/Resolution settings thru there and once i was able to get into X mode i did tried thru KDE but i cannot go higher than 800x600

All you need to do is edit your xorg.conf file.

open your Konsole
type su
password: <enter our password>
type cd /etc/X11/
type cp xorg.conf orig.xorg.conf (so U have a backup

type vi xorg.conf
now just change exerything that says 800 600 to your desired resolution. I changed mine to 1280 1024. should be abour 4 or 5 lines to change.
vi commands:
[esc] i = insert
[esc] x = delete
[esc] :wq = write changes and quit vi (thats a colon)
OK now restert X w/ ctrl + alt + backspace
should be all good
