Fedora Core 3 with ati mobile 9000 only 800x600 res??

Hi. I have installed fedora core 3 on my laptop, and i want to run it at bigger resolutions than 800x600 because when i change the res. the screen looks like there would be running 4 desktops at once each looking the same. What is the problem? Drivers? I think i might install Slackware 10.1 tomorrow will it change? Will i have the same problem? Thx
