Loging on as root in Mandrake 9.1

K, now I have had Mandrake 8.2, 9.0, and now 9.1. But it wasn't untill 9.1 that you couldn't type your user name into the X logon screen. How do I log on as root?? (I don't really want to have to "run as root" for every admin program I have)

Try Start Applications-Configuration-KDE-Systems-Login Manager.

I've heard that we must use the Gnome login manager to login as root. Don't know if it's true

It's not! Depending on configuration both GDM and KDM can do it.

Peace!

Go from the K startup.

Configuration - KDE - System - Login Manager

enter password for root

click on the tab users

untick the Hidden User root

Click apply and OK.

Now login as a different user you should now find root as an option.

Hmm, is there any way to get the old X log on where you have to type your user name and password??
