guys instead of editing the XFree86 conf by hand ... isn't there an fglrxconfig that you can use? It will ask you a few questions then generate a config file for you.

you mean there's NOTHING in your KDE start menu? And when you click on the 'home' icon no file browser pops up?

here's a link to a howto for adding menu items ... not sure if it'll be of much use though.

http://www-oss.fnal.gov/projects/fer...lass/menu.html

can you load Gnome instead of KDE? You should be able to access KDE's menu options from Gnome, this will allow you to add things back to KDE's start menu and then you can use KDE again instead of Gnome.

Remove .kde and .kderc from your home directory, for example, log in gnome and delete the directory .kde and the file .kderc.
Then restart kde

skadub thank you for your help. I haven't used KDE in FOREVER let alone an rpm based system. so it's always difficult for me to help people out in that arena thank you.

mausie, glad to see you're up and running. we almost lost you there for a moment, sorry this was such a struggle, looking back at the hard time I had with ATI and their drivers I sometimes wish I had gotten an nvidia but oh well.

Congrats and happy computing.
