I notice during the boot process (when I press [ESC] key) it says the following:

ivtv(0.10.2-5mdv 2009.): Installing module. . . . . . .
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . .(bad exit status :10)

Build failed. Installation skipped

NVIDIA 173 (173.14.12-4mdv 2009.0) already installed on this kernel.

v4l-dvb-testing (0-0. hg9767. 1mdv1009.0) Already installed on this kernel.

Is it possible mandriva 2009 has a bug.....?

dmesg doesn't appear to have loaded cx18. Did you download it and copy to the /lib/firmware/$KERNEL_VERSION (appropriate kernel version directory that is)?

the cat /dev/video0 should have > test.mpg at the end of it.

I am not sure I understand what you are saying, did I download "dmesg"...?

I went to cd /lib/firmware/ and did not see a kernel version there...

It looks like the firmware is loading now according to your dmesg.

According to this, it says to run make menuconfig http://ivtvdriver.org/index.php/Cx18

"Unpack, 'make menuconfig', 'make', 'make install' (as root), 'make unload' (as root) and run 'modprobe cx18'. "
