Getting this error "Unable to set LC_ALL to default locale"


When i enter su command in bash i get this error
""Unable to set LC_ALL to default locale""
I also get this error when i try to add new media to my mandriva distribution.


"Unable to add medium, errors reported:

mirror list not found
...retrieving failed:
unable to access the distribution medium (no media.cfg file found)

Medium: Official2010.0- ()"






And since i am entirly new to linux,so i don't even know about the linux Konsole

I'm not sure the locale error is fatal. Can you go forward as root, after that?

On 'mirror list not found', that sounds like the mirror server was offline/unreachable. I'd wait a bit and try again.

yes i can go forward as a root

Solution

I had the same problem yesterday. It is easy to fix. Just go to the package manager and check if the "locale" for your country is (it wasn't on mine) installed. Search word: locales, worked for me. If it is not installed install it. Then go to "mcc"->"system"->"manage localization for your system", set your keyboard and language/country. Reboot. Problem should now be solved.
