2.6.11-6mdk-i686-up-4GB kernel source install

Hello all

I have an IBM R51 laptop with a centrino processor running Mandriva Limited Edition 2005. Due to a problem with the way the centrino chipset works a conventional Mandriva kernel will not work. You can see more on why on nixdoc.net.

As a result of this I am currently running the 2.6.11-6mdk-i686-up-4GB kernel (this is the default installed LE 2005 kernel for the centrino chips). In order to compile the ipw2200 drivers for this configuration I need to have the kernel sources installed, but I cannot seem to find it anywhere!

I've carefully updated and searched all my repositories, searched through online rpm sources, and googled all over, but I cannot find a suitable rpm or otherwise for this particular kernel. Perhaps the kernel sources do not share the same "2.6.11-6mdk-i686-up-4GB" naming scheme? Or is it possible that this particular kernel source has not been released yet?

Any insight on this would be appreciated.

Well after some searching it appears that there is no specific kernel source for the "2.6.11-6mdk-i686-up-4GB" merely different options of compilation. Although the post is not in English, it's in French, google's translation gets the point across .

Hopefully this information is factually accurate, anyone else got a take on this? I'll be testing this out in the next few days so I'll post back about it.

Take care all

Yup, it worked.

In order to install the kernel source for the "2.6.11-6mdk-i686-up-4GB" kernel you need to simply install the 2.6.11-6mdk kernel source. The actual package name was: kernel-2.6.11.6mdk-1-1mdk.src.rpm

IMPORTANT: I made the simple and careless mistake of installing the 2.6.11-12mdk kernel source, which is distinctly different from the 2.6.11-6mdk kernel source, so just take your time when making your choice.

Enjoy!
