Hi!

You can install it. On your i686 works i386, i486, i586, i686.

Thanks Boby,

And is the reverse operation ok ? an i686 package on an i386 or i586 computer ?
Don't know much about this, and as I have a i586 desktop I guess, I would like to know about this.

Cheers, xround.

Compiling software as i686 typically gives no benefit outside of special packages such as the kernel and glibc. People who compile everything as i686 generally don't understand what they're doing.
